If you Google the saying “Cracked up to be”. I thought it had to do with eggs or something. The web sites I looked up said the word “Cracked” is a old Scottish term for boasting. Well that fits really well about the US postal flat rate boxes. I want to break down the post office claim you can ship anything for a flat rate. The post office offers four different size boxes and one envelope for three different prices. In our pictures we show, small, medium, and large. The fourth box is a flatter medium box. They have one small box which cost $4.95 to ship. They have two medium boxes for $10.70 and one large box for $14.95. Let’s start with the small box. This box is tiny we can barely get two flour sack towels in the small box.(Picture far right) Two flour sack towels would be better to stick in a envelope and use their parcel shipping method. The medium size boxes , we can barely get 10 flour sack towels in for a cost $10.70. When we ship 10 flour sack towels FedEx ground to North Carolina the cost is $8.15, $7.15 to Oklahoma , $8.94 to Utah. These are actual shipping charges from recent orders. The large box for $14.70 is not as large as they make it out to be. We can ship 200 flour sack towel s to California for $28.00 FedEx ground. The box we ship 200 towels in is 24x16x12, the large US Postal box is 12x12x5.5. You can get four of their large boxes in our 24x16x12 box. If you want measurements the small box is only 1 5/8 thick and the medium is 5 ½ high. The post office has a great website you can see the sizes and prices. As you can see in the picture we have a water bottle, a soup can and some scissors. The water bottle is the 1 liter, and the boxes look tiny. A soup can is not much bigger than your hand. I am not saying in this post the US postal is bad or wrong for shipping packages. All I am trying to state is “its not what it’s cracked up to be” this is just like everything else in life you have to do your home work. There are times it is feasible to ship postal and we do. It is really hard for the shipping programs to identify all the zip codes and match them up to the different items and boxes. Some companies pad extra cost in the product to give the illusion of lower shipping. We do not; our policy is everyday low prices. ACS checks every order and the shipping cost, and will refund any discrepancies. We are doing everything we can to keep shipping cost low.
If you want to save money on shipping the best method is multiple items with friends and family. Split the cost and you will save on shipping. The other way is ship to a business. If you do not know anybody that has a business or your company will not let you accept packages. Ask your beauty salon or local hardware, any business you are a regular customer.
